Finding beauty in the ordinary

I’m an artist with a camera. I have a passion to create work from a perspective of self-expression.

Based in London I shoot portraiture, street scenes and urban landscapes. I started documenting school and college life, anchoring in the memories of the good and bad times when growing up.

Sports photography was next, capturing those enduring candid moments of grace, heartbreak, achievement and pure joy. Observing how amazing the human body can be, then freezing those moments in time.

Now my style is around the moody, dark and emotional moments of real life, what is happening around me today. And at the same time capturing the beauty in those moments, the little sparks of wonderment.

I look for that ‘Perfect Collision’ of light, mood, shadow, space, emotion and story

David Bowie was a hero of mine, his lyrics and music have been and still are an influence in my life. I was encouraged to be inquisitive, to look at the world differently as if in space observing life unfolding below. He said in an interview:

“If you feel safe in the area you’re working in, you’re not working in the right area. Always go a little further into the water than you feel you’re capable of being in.

Go a little bit out of your depth.

And when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you’re just about in the right place to do something exciting.”

This is how I take my photographs ... in the zone of excitement!
